Calling All Accessory Lovers

Photos By: Tess Ware
{Outfit details below, click away}

Striped Dress: Old, Similar here | Red Buffalo Plaid Shirt: Nordstrom | Booties: Black "Danaisy" | Tote: Tory Burch '"Robinson Pebbled" | Necklace: Baublebar Showgirl Fringe Strand | Bracelets: Stella & Dot here, here | Sunnies: Karen Walker "Super Duper Strength" | Watch: MK "Blair"

A girl should never leave their home without their favorite accessories! Whether you are a watch, necklace, ring, or bracelet kind of girl {or all of the above}...always chose key pieces you can wear on repeat. For me my "go tos"  are simple but fun pieces like this Michael Kors "Blair" Gold Tone Watch here and this Stella & Dot Renegade Cluster Bracelet here that can be stacked perfectly together. If it's any indication of how much I wear these two lovelies.. it's safe to say I'm due for a new battery and recently had to call in replacement for my favorite Stella & Dot bracelet after 3 years of non-stop wear!

If you're looking to dress up for a special occasion, work, or holiday get-togethers... step up your accessory game a notch by wearing a bold statement necklace like this BaubleBar Showgirl Fringe here or this Pearl Shower Bib here. Wear it with your favorite cozy sweater or a dazzling dress!

I've always thought of accessories as the exclamation point of a woman's outfit.

Does is get any better than shopping for your loved ones, co-workers, and homegirls for the holidays? {yes, I said homegirls...it may be so 2008, but lets just appreciate the meaning}. What I can tell you is if you're anything like me...you most likely wait last minute, thinking...the perfect gift is out there. It has be. Right? Wrong, sometimes holiday gift shopping can be overwhelming..lets be honest with ourselves a pair of socks or a boring smelling candle just isn't going to cut it for that IT girl in your life. It's like chips without queso and that's just insulting.

I wanted to make it a little easier for y'all by putting a gift guide for all you ladies with men in your life {who need help in the gift buying department}, besties, mothers, or co-workers. If you don't have anyone to buy for this season...tis' the season for giving to yourself for all that hard work ;)

P.S if you couldn't tell...I'm slightly obsessed with white and gold for the holidays {#elegant} and anything/everything BaubleBar {#canyoublameagirl}! I also want to point everything minus the Sultra Bombshell Curling Iron {which is amazing} are all under $60 or less! Now that's what I call successful holiday shopping!

Happy Holiday Shopping!

Fall Layering | Tips & Tricks

Lush Perfect Roll Tunic: Nordstrom {comes in 4 colors} | Evergreen Blanket Scarf: ShopbellaC { under $30} | Leather Leggings: Express similar here {on sale} | Burgundy Wantagh Steve Madden Booties: Nordstrom | Tory Burch "Robinson" Pebbled Tote: Nordstrom | Karen Walker Sunnies: Shopbop | Watch: Michael Kors | Bracelets: Stella & Dot here, here, here | Ring: Baublebar

When it comes to fall and layering..I can be rather picky. I'm 26 and at times I still find myself struggling on how to compliment my body shape while layering. I'm about to get a little raw..and well sometimes it takes a little willpower to do so. Side note: I struggle once in a while with my body image, but over the years with age have grown to appreciate my curves and that has since lead to more self-confidence. Plus...I'm not exactly the poster child of healthy eating... #Ilikemycarbs.

My body profile is 5"8, 135-140 lbs, and anywhere between a size 27-28 waist {some stores 29}. I often switch from small to medium tops and length is often an issue for me. After looking into all the different types of body shapes.. I've learned that I fall somewhere between pear shape and hour glass. I would love to take credit of having a body like Eva Longoria, but lets be real..she's a petite hour glass (a girl can dream).

So, where does of this body talk lead to? I wanted to provide some helpful tips on key steps to layering any body type. Real talk: I in no way consider myself an expert, but again love offering tips and personal tricks I've learned throughout the years to help you build the perfect layering look for any season. Disclaimer: This certainly doesn't include every body shape out there, but covers MOST body shapes. Keep in mind.. some shapes begin to blend closely with others.

  • The "Ruler" or "Lean Column"
    • Your top and bottom often match in size. Example- Small top, Small bottom. Petite like.
    • Layering Tip: Shy away from shapeless shirts or droopy styles. Baggy on top and on bottom.
    • Layering Trick: Add extra layering to the top and compliment with a skinny/flared denim and some heels or tall boots to add dimensions instead of one straight line. Also add an edgy leather jacket or short sweater with high waisted denim. #jealous
  • The "Apple" Shape
    • You have roundness and fullness in the shoulders, stomach, and hip areas.
    • Layering Tip: Shy away from extra fabric in the mid section or bust area. Also busy detail in the full areas-stomach, waist, hip. Example: Front or double pockets. Also Jackets or cardigans that finish at your fullest points.
    • Layering Trick: Wear a shirt/blouse with a line/seam directly below the bust. Example: Cap sleeve with a line directly under the bust area with a flare leading the eye down to the hip area or slits at the waist. Top it off with a short statement necklace. Avoid busy detail in the full areas-stomach, waist, hip. Boot cut denim with a cute mid-heel bootie or heel to create a longer leg. #curveperfection.
  • The "Pear" Shape
    • You carry weight on your hips or thighs. Your top half is smaller than your bottom half.
    • Layering Tip: Shy away from short shirts/blouse/sweaters that hit way above your waist line. This creates the illusion that your hips are wider creating an unporportional top and bottom half. Balance is key.
    • Layering Trick: Always have tops/blouses hit above or below the widest part of you hip and bottom. {Sometimes as pictured I can get away with high and low tops, but anything above my waist or a little below creates a widening effect. Layering on your top half example: a chunky blanket scarf or statement necklace will draw the eye up and away from your hips.  Fitted denim/pants around the waist are always best. #Idigit.
  • The "Hour Glass" or "Full Hour Glass"
    • Defined or bigger bust area, defined or round waist, neat or rounded hip and bottom.
    • Layering Tip: Shy away from straight lines or boxy jackets/sweaters. Avoid bulk around your curves.
    • Layering trick: Wear shaped and fitted lines. Tops/Blouses with a V Neckline. Crop top with high waisted denim. Fitted top with a pencil skirt and blazer. Shorter sweater with fitted jeans and a cute scarf/statement necklace. #Swag.

As always thanks for following and if you have any further questions on layering or dressing your shape feel free to e-mail me at mandynicoleblog@gmail.com! I would love to hear from you!

Nordstrom Fall Clearance Sale!

Pictures by: Tess Ware
{Outfit Details below}

Dreamers Debut Sweater: Nordstrom {$28.00 comes in six colors} | Denim: Nordstrom, Similar {on sale} | Booties: Nordstrom | Hat: Nordstrom, Similar | Bag: MK, Similar {love in blush} | Sunnies: Karen Walker

Just when I thought The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale was enough to make a girl dance {now that's a site}...they pull out their Fall Clearance Sale. Pure greatness. One thing that I dread during Fall...is well preparing for winter. I love fall. I can do fall all year. Winter, that's another 45 minutes of your time, but in all seriousness winter means winter accessories. I'm not much of a coat girl. Here is why...it's one more thing to throw on while exciting the door..and when you're never on time {like this girl}...that can cramp your style. Another reason.. coats can be expensive! I can get over the adding to my lateness and if I find a great deal on a coat...I can live with that too. I'm not a grinch about winter or anything {December being the only exception}!

I wanted to share some of my favorites from the sale which includes two different styles of coats that proves everything in paragraph one is false! This fabulous Cole Haan Wool Coat here comes in two colors. I love the Bordeaux! I'm also crushing over this Guess Double Boucle Cutaway Coat in blush here. Also loving this "You Don't Want to See me Hangry" graphic Tee here. Snag my Dreamers by Debut Cream Sweater here {Cream color sold out} but comes in six other shades!

Has anyone else been following up with The Voice? First things first, rumor has it Blake and Gwen's relationship has been confirmed. I think they're both incredibly sweet individuals and you know the saying..opposites attract! Although I think Miranda is BA...I've been a No Doubt fan since the middle school ages {braces and all}...Gwen is my girl! Anyways, my favorites are Amy Vachal {She's a modern day Etta James} her voice is like sweet wine! Jordan Smith is also a favorite! His voice and humor are impeccable!

Happy Thursday Y'all!
